What The School Board Decided:

"Against" School Uniforms

If they make us wear uniforms, we will not be able to express ourselves. If we wear our own clothes, we can tell how that person acts and what that person likes. If we wear the uniforms, we couldn't tell.
-- Lucia G.

Teachers would like us to grow up to be more responsible for ourselves, and dressing and what we're wearing is one of those responsibilities.
-- Rebecca C.

It is very dull looking at the same clothing every day. In school I was taught that everyone looked different, and that made each person unique. Uniforms don't let you express yourself.
-- Fernando V.

Imagine everybody wearing the same thing, all wearing black and white like little skunks marching down the hall. We're in a public school, not in a Catholic school.
-- Grisel G.

The school board told us we could not wear BIG PANTS. Then they said that we would have to start putting our shirts inside. We can't wear short dresses. I think that anything a little higher than your knee is not short, but that is what the school board said. Now they are going too far with this uniform idea.
-- Maria B.

One of the reasons I am against uniforms is because I have the right to wear anything I want to wear.
-- Gabriel O.

The kids will be too busy worrying about how stupid they look, and it won't stop gangs. If we wear black and white, that is a gang color right there. So no matter what, there still will be gangs.
-- Emilio C.

You wouldn't be able to express yourself. You wouldn't be allowed to wear clothes with words or pictures on them. You couln't wear clothes that said Cowboys or Spurs and other things. You wouldn't be able to wear the clothes you would normally wear. You would have to wear the same pants and shirts day after day like the people that are in jail.
